1899 (26 Dec.) A cover to Wuchow Customs via Canton, bearing Red Revenue 1c on 3c horizontal pair, tied by rare double
ring 'IMPERIAL POST OFFICE/WHAMPOA' cds with date '26-12-99' inserted in manuscript, on reverse with bilingual
'CANTON/27.12.99' transit and 'WUCHOW/28.99' arrival cds, top flap has been separated. With RPS cert. 2006.
According to Benjamin Y.K. Hwa, The Illustrated Covers, Postcards, Lettercards, Remittance Certificates of Revenue Surcharges,
Vol. I, p. 62, only two covers had been recorded bearing Red Revenues with this cancellation. The handwriting on this cover and
the date written into the cancellation match precisely that on the existing known covers, certifying it’s authenticity.
