and 10c green tied by single ring 'U.S.POSTAL ANENCY/SHANGHAI/5.1.95' duplex '1' cancellation. Alongside handstamped
unframed 'REGISTERED/No.17' in violet, overstruck by another unframed 'REGISTERED' marking in blue, alongside with
Shanghai 'R' in red circle reg. marking. On reverse, bearing Dowager first printing 1 cand vermilion, 2 cands green and 6 cands
chocolate, tied by 'TIENTISN' seal chop in blue, alongside with 'CUSTOMS/SHANGHAI/14.1.95' cds in blue, 'U.S.POSTAL
AGENCY/SHANGHAI/1.25.95' duplex '1' cancellation x 2, via San Francisco with 'SAN FRANCISCO/24.2.95' transit, at top with
h/s 'REGISTERED No. 120/115/HAMILTON. N.Y./3.2.95', and 2 different 'BROOKLY/5.3.95' arrival cds. Very fine condition.
Includes Peter Holcombe cert. 1996. Paid the correct postage rate to USA, 3 cands for domestic usage and 6 cands for the
registration fee, whereas the USA 15c postage rate is overdue 2c, the USA international postage 5c for domestic and 8c for the
registration fee (total 13c).
This cover is believed to be the earliest Dowager cover sent through the US Postal Agency in Shanghai. It is from the same
correspondence as the cover in Huang Ming-Jeng Grand Prix collection sold in Interasia auction Dec. 2012.
