1922 (5 apr.) A censored cover from Shanghai reg. to Germany, bearing opt. 'CHINA' on KGV 10c and 20c tied by
oval 'REGISTERED/SHANGHAI.B.P.O' cancellation, Webb type R4, h/s rare 'R/Shanghai B.P.O/NO 6898' reg. frame
chop in violet, size 40 x 19mm, this reg. frame chop is only mentioned by Norton, not by Webb. On reverse with
various and arrival cancellation total 7, plus a Germany censor sealed label. Fine. Photo

1927 A cover front with opt. ‘CHINA’ from Shanghai to Gloucester, England. The stamp itself is united. After the
closure of all the British Post Agencies in November 1922. Wei Hai Wei naval base was the only location where
CHINA overprints could be used. The use of these stamps in Shanghai in 1927 was incorrect. The cover shows the
‘SHANGHAI/T’ with box ‘T/CENTS’ manuscript in pencil 50 inside the frame chop. And British 5d postage due
stamp and h/s ‘5D’ in black for the full 10 cents rate for a letter from Shanghai. Photo
