1859 (23 May) A cover from England to Canton
River, bearing QV red penny and 4p pink x 2, tied by
'DEVONPORT/MY 23 59' cancellation. On reverse
with 'PB/LONDON/MY 24 59' cds in red. According
to Lee Scamp, Canton office had just re-opening April
1859. Some defects on the cover. Photo

1872 (21 July) A stampless embossed Shanghai Local
Post origin cover through French post office to France.
On front with 'SHANG-HAI/24 July 72' cds, on reverse
with 'SHANGHAI/LOCALPOST/JY21 72' index C cds,
French transits and 'GENGOUX/11 Sep 72' arrival cds.
This is the earliest recorded SLP origin cover combined
with French post system. In 1867 there was an agreement
British post office Shanghai and SLP in handling oversea
mail. This made this cover an exceptional outgoing
combination. Rare. Photo

Shanghai, on front bearing GB QV 2 1/2d blue in pair,
left stamp defects, tied by '77' duplex and 'LONDON'
cancellation. Adjacent with Large Dragon 3cds brown
red, tied by 'CUSTOMS/SHANGHAI/MAY 3 83' cds,
on reverse with 'HONG KONG/AP26 83' transit and
'CUSTOMS/SHANGHAI/MAY 2 83' transit, torn at top
and part of flap missing, but still rare mixed franking
cover. with 2004 Experts & Consultants cert. Photo
